Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Storage Canonbury takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships, and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not take place within our organisation or in any of our supplier relationships.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Storage Canonbury has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour. We expect the same high standards from all of our employees, contractors, suppliers, and business partners. Any indication that modern slavery is taking place will be treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in the termination of business relationships, as well as reporting to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
All colleagues are required to act in accordance with our values and to challenge any behaviour that may be inconsistent with our commitment to human rights and fair treatment. Management at every level is responsible for ensuring that those reporting to them understand and comply with this policy.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Canonbury operates storage and related support services. Our supply chains include providers of facilities management, security, cleaning, equipment, packaging materials, technology, and professional services. We recognise that certain sectors and geographies carry a higher risk of labour exploitation, and we assess these risks as part of our procurement and supplier management processes.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We conduct due diligence on new suppliers and review existing suppliers on a risk-sensitive basis. This includes assessing their policies, practices, and track record in relation to labour standards and human rights. Where appropriate, suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with applicable labour and human rights laws and that they do not tolerate modern slavery in their own operations and supply chains.
Storage Canonbury reserves the right to conduct audits or inspections, either directly or through independent third parties, to verify supplier compliance. These audits may involve reviewing documentation, interviewing workers where feasible, and assessing working conditions. If we identify concerns, we will work with the supplier to agree a corrective action plan with clear timescales. If satisfactory improvement is not achieved, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Protection
We encourage all employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise concerns about potential or suspected modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management, or through internal reporting routes established for ethical or compliance issues.
Storage Canonbury will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who make reports in good faith, even if concerns are not ultimately substantiated. All reports will be treated sensitively, handled as confidentially as possible, and investigated promptly and fairly. Where appropriate, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies and other relevant bodies.
Training and Awareness
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier oversight. Training and guidance may cover recognising signs of exploitation, understanding our zero-tolerance policy, and knowing how to report concerns. We expect our key suppliers to similarly train their own staff and subcontractors where relevant.
Ongoing Monitoring and Annual Review
Storage Canonbury is committed to continuous improvement in identifying and addressing the risks of modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our policies and controls through supplier assessments, incident reviews, and feedback from stakeholders. Lessons learned from any issues or near misses are used to improve our processes.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains appropriate, effective, and aligned with applicable legislation and best practice. Updates are approved at a senior level and communicated within the business and, where relevant, to our suppliers and partners.
By maintaining a strong stance against modern slavery, Storage Canonbury seeks to play a responsible role in promoting fair, safe, and respectful working conditions throughout our operations and supply chains.
